William Fyffe: On The Seashore

ON THE SEASHORE 

Part of a 1938 series of vintage classroom posters created by Enid Blyton in collaboration with a number of well known illustrators of the day. They were designed as talking points to be used in infant school classrooms and conjure up the era perfectly; filled with children and nature subjects all in the styles and colours of the period. Jolly times!

The set of 84 posters accompanied a 4-volume teaching aid published by George Newnes Limited under Blyton’s supervision. This resource, often presented in a folio format, included color prints and resource boxes. It was intended for use in schools and contained 84 topics presented as weekly programs.

The 84 posters covered 84 different topics from the book and artists involved in creating these posters included William Fyffe (1931-2016), Ernest Aris, Dorothy Newsome, Cyril Cowell, Kay Nixon, Lorna Adamson, Raymond Sheppard, and some uncredited artists.

This poster has crisp, clear colours and is printed on heavy white paper. Most have signs of wear and marks around the edges but the central image is in good condition.
