Olga Lobanova

Lobanova’s work begins with a single dot of ink. It’s the first dot that represents life itself, from inception to completion. Her brushes are made of a single hair shed from the tail of a rare squirrel from the Indian subcontinent. She makes her own inks and paints from a myriad of natural materials.   She is deeply stimulated by her passion for Persian illuminated manuscripts. These ancient illustrations, with their jewel-like attention to detail inspire the creation of her work.
